Fragile Partition Table

During recent vacation time, I tried to resurrect my dead Maxtor HD. I can see it from the BIOS POST screen but I can’t see it in Windows. That makes me pondering. So, I use the TestDrive program inside UBCD (Ultimate Boot CD) and found that the partition table is damaged. After recovering it, my Maxtor drive is alive again.
What a fragile design.
