{"id":76,"date":"2008-07-27T15:11:01","date_gmt":"2008-07-27T19:11:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cchsu.com\/art-en\/?p=76"},"modified":"2008-07-28T02:28:37","modified_gmt":"2008-07-28T06:28:37","slug":"gossip-why-is-synchronization-important","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cchsu.com\/art-en\/2008\/07\/27\/76\/","title":{"rendered":"Gossip: Why is Synchronization Important?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In <a href=\"http:\/\/www.joelonsoftware.com\/items\/2008\/05\/01.html\">Joel&#8217;s article<\/a>, he joked about &#8220;architect astronaut&#8221; and the idea of synchronization.\u00a0\u00a0Alright, there seems to be something really weird.\u00a0 Microsoft is not the only guy in this &#8220;synchronization&#8221; business.\u00a0 If synchronizing files is not making profit, why so many folks keep burning money on it?<\/p>\n<p>IMO, synchronzing files does not make money by itself.\u00a0 It&#8217;s just the fundation of a (money-making) vision: share info and work\u00a0with peer easily.\u00a0 Had you ever play chess?\u00a0 Direct moves are not necessarily smart moves, because sometimes you just need to plan and take indirect moves to win.\u00a0 Today&#8217;s mobile devices have at most VGA resolution screens so there are\u00a0not really &#8220;killer applications&#8221; yet.\u00a0 However, if one just sit and wait the whole environment to mature and everyone having a cell phone with dirt cheap data fee and XGA screens, it&#8217;s too late for the game.<\/p>\n<p>The term &#8220;synchronization&#8221; is not accurate at all.\u00a0 It&#8217;s more about cloud computing.\u00a0 All informations are stored and manipulated in the cloud so that\u00a0they are\u00a0of course &#8220;synchronized&#8221;.\u00a0 Is cloud computing another hype created by architect astronauts?\u00a0 I don&#8217;t think so.\u00a0 Who needs synchronizing files?\u00a0 Eventually everyone will enjoy, since it is just a very minor checklist item provided in the big package.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In Joel&#8217;s article, he joked about &#8220;architect astronaut&#8221; and the idea of synchronization.\u00a0\u00a0Alright, there seems to be something really weird.\u00a0 Microsoft is not the only guy in this &#8220;synchronization&#8221; business.\u00a0 If synchronizing files is not making profit, why so many folks keep burning money on it?
